Supporting testing services

How to access our testing facilities

Companies contact the MakerLab coordinator or School of Engineering and define a project, thesis topic or workshop format. Access to the MakerLab is organised via supervised sessions where student teams work on the company’s challenge using the available equipment.

Support provided during the testing process

Academic staff and MakerLab personnel mentor student teams, help scope the technical tasks and supervise safe use of equipment. Companies are involved in reviews and test sessions, receive feedback and can iterate their concepts based on the prototypes and findings.

Consulting and expert guidance

Yes, companies can consult with the MakerLab coordinator and academic staff from the School of Engineering. They provide technical guidance, help define feasible student projects and link to further expertise within Pforzheim University.

Networking opportunities and collaboration platforms

The MakerLab can host networking events, project presentations and prototype demos where companies meet student teams and academic staff, discuss results and explore follow‑up cooperation. Events can be combined with existing university formats.

Additional resources for interested companies

The MakerLab is embedded in Pforzheim University’s engineering ecosystem and complements existing workshops and laboratories. Manufacturing SMEs can use it as a low‑threshold entry point to collaborate with students, test ideas, prepare R&D projects and identify future employees with hands‑on experience.
