Description of center’s mission and objectives

The Centre for Agricultural Research (ATK) intends to keep up its leading role among Hungarian agricultural research institutions due to its special position based on relevant research activities. At the same time, with its cultivars and patents it provides biological base for the arable land in Hungarian agriculture, having significant influence on the crop production sector. Compared to other European countries it provides a relevant base for agricultural sciences.

Description of center’s facilities and equipment

The ISS (Institute for Soil Sciences) features experimental fields, phenotyping platforms, and a metabolomics platform. These facilities support testing, demonstration, and simulation for agricultural research, including crop stress resistance, soil health, and nutrient management innovations.

The metabolomics platform is a highlight, capable of analysing liquids to identify compounds with high precision. Other key tools include imaging systems for phenotyping, AI for soil biology analysis, and advanced equipment for environmental modelling and nutrient assessment.
