DEKONA has been developing its design and production capacities for a long time and is gradually introducing modern digital tools to support process control. Due to the growing complexity of orders and technological requirements, there was a need to systematically evaluate the level of digitization and identify opportunities to further streamline work with data and processes. The aim was to better connect existing information systems, promote transparency of information across departments and create a basis for the further development of digitization and the use of data in production and business processes. This step was also intended to help prepare the company for further growth and the gradual implementation of advanced digital solutions.
As part of the pilot activity of the Danube DNA project and the B2GreenHub platform, the Digital Maturity Assessment process was carried out and specific steps of digital transformation were proposed. The analysis identified the main areas of improvement in the processes of business preparation of production, design data management and monitoring of production technologies.
Based on the results, priority measures were defined, in particular the automation of the processing of quotations and technological preparation of production using artificial intelligence, the introduction of systematic management of business activities and the implementation of monitoring of CNC machines for transparent evaluation of the use of production capacities.
The recommendations also included the gradual standardization of the CAD environment and the strengthening of integration between PLM and ERP systems. The result of the pilot is a clear roadmap of digital transformation, which will allow the company to better use existing data, increase process transparency and prepare the company for further automation of production and analytical use of data.
Businesses with a similar profile can be advised to start digitalisation by systematically assessing digital maturity and identifying key processes with the greatest potential for improvement. It is important to connect business, design and production data in a unified IT ecosystem and minimize manual steps between systems. A great benefit is also the gradual standardization of design tools and the introduction of monitoring of production equipment, which provides objective data on capacity utilization. Digitalization should take place gradually, with an emphasis on processes and people, not just technology. Smaller-scale piloting and validation of solutions help minimize risks and accelerate the implementation of changes in the organization.
