Challenge

As an innovation-driven company, Galeyo continuously explores European funding opportunities to support internal product development, research activities and international collaboration. However, identifying suitable funding calls across multiple EU programmes required significant time and manual research. Comparing eligibility criteria, funding priorities and deadlines often involved reviewing numerous sources, making the process resource-intensive. The company wanted to test an AI-supported solution that could simplify funding discovery, improve the relevance of identified opportunities and support more efficient planning of future innovation initiatives.

Solution & Result

Galeyo participated in the pilot implementation of the AI-Powered Funding Call Matcher, developed within the Danube DNA project. The solution uses AI to match business profiles and project ideas with relevant EU funding opportunities based on sector, innovation focus and organisational priorities.
With support from SERDA and the B2GreenHub platform, Galeyo tested the tool in real business scenarios while exploring funding opportunities for innovation and international cooperation projects. Compared to manual searching, the platform significantly accelerated the initial identification of relevant calls, reduced time spent on preliminary screening and provided a more structured overview of funding possibilities.
The pilot also strengthened Galeyo's internal capacity for grant scouting and supported the preparation of future project applications, including participation in new international funding initiatives.

Learning tips & recommendations

Companies looking for innovation funding should first define their strategic priorities and project ideas before searching for funding opportunities. AI-powered tools can significantly reduce the time required to identify relevant calls while improving the quality of initial screening. Human expertise remains essential for assessing eligibility and preparing strong proposals, but combining AI with expert evaluation creates a much more efficient funding discovery process. Collaboration with business support organisations such as SERDA can further strengthen project development and international networking.
